Can you help me with permits and regulations for renovation projects?
My property is tenanted. Do I need to give tenant notice before starting renovations in Ontario?
Yes, in Ontario, tenants must be given at least 24 hours’ written notice before entering the unit for non-emergency repairs or renovations. This notice should include the date, time, and reason for entering.
For major renovations or any work that affects the tenant’s living conditions (such as noise, disruption, or removal of services), the notice period and communication should be more detailed.
Depending on the extent of the work, a longer notice period might be required, and we will ensure this is properly handled according to Ontario’s Residential Tenancies Act.
